Compass sensor not working

I bought an Xperia XA1 on December 2017, in January I found out during a trip that my compass sensor does not work, the cell phone cannot distinguish North, South, etc. I have confirmed that is not a Software issue as Mexican authorized distributor Telcel performed a “software update” and that did not fixed the issue. I went then to Sony’s authorized service center in Monterrey Mexico where I left my device since January 23, today (Feb 7th) I am receiving the cell phone with a letter saying “equipment was checked and everything is ok” when I indicated that the compass is not working. I made a terrible mistake buying Sony again as I had previously an Xperia Z1 which came with a camera issue and was then solved by a software update. At this point I do not have any ware to go in Mexico as both the distributor and the authorized Sony center are not repairing the phone. It is obvious that is a hardware issue, as it does not matter what app are you running (google maps, any compass from the play store) anything that needs to identify North, South, etc, does not work properly. Both, the device and the service provided by Sony have been terrible, a total waste of money and time.

The guarantee indicates a Sony center inside a Telcel shop where people are not properly qualified and does not matter if I indicate it is a Hardware issue; they want to fix everything with a “software update”. 01-800 number on the box sent me to the service center (Santiago Tapia Poniente 732, Centro, 64000 Monterrey, N.L), then I had to wait two weeks just to find out that they did not do anything to the phone, I wrote a description of the failure, step by step so they could identify the issue but nobody in Sony listens to customers.

This is the last resource that I have, hoping that someone can be aware of this scam of having just one month with an Xperia XA1 that is not working properly, with a one year guarantee that either the brand does not want to honour or their “engineering” crew is just so poorly qualified that they are just not trained in 8D’s. etc, or any other tool to look for the root cause of any malfunction.

Settings > Support > tap on the center bottom icon > Tests > run all tests > report back.
