After updating to Oreo I find that screen dimming apps that take brightness below 0% or the default device minimum don't effect the status bar or the pull down menu. I emailed Sony and they suggested a software repair. Didn't make any difference. So after a start over I'm no farther forward. Looks like an Oreo issue from online search. Anyone else having this problem? Possibly resolved in Oreo 8.1?
I think I know what you are referring to, but just to clarify
1 if you lower the brightness to the lowest setting > pull down the notification bar > is it as bright as if it was 100% or there's no change, it is at its lowest brightness?
2 when you install a screen filter app (third party app) when you pull down the notification bar, it's bright right? this will have to be handled by the third party app developer
Ive tried many different apps. None of them work. It's apps that take brightness below 0. The main screen works but not the rest.
Ok, so there's nothing wrong with your phone, that's a third party issue, you will need to contact them regarding this issue, as those are third party apps.
My suggestion is to contact Sony with your feedback, but the feedback should be: To dim the screen even more than what we currently have.
Just a thought.
This is immediately post Oreo update. The apps all functioned 100% before the update. Its an Oreo issue. I was curious if anyone else had encountered it.
I have the same issue, but this is something that third party apps have to fix, even if the app works fine with a different Android version or phone, that's something the app devs have to solve as Sony has no control on third party apps.
From online posts this has been going on since Oreo rolled out last year. I've emailed one of the apps makers but no reply!
