Access to Google/Internet stopped working

I have suddenly lost access to the Internet. When I use Google search engine it just bounces back to the logo.

Does it only happen when you use Google Search or any other apps?

Yes only when I try to use Google, I can access all other apps

Could you boot in safe mode to narrow down the issue?

Although I have read about this I'm not sure what to do and how I should know the difference

I am thinking the problem stems from the fact I had no Internet use for just under two weeks given I ran out of my usage allowance. When I got my new allowance the problem with connecting to the Internet started. My phone was for a contract with 02 network which ran out last October, I got a second handset deal with 3 on my hubbys contract, it was a huwawai (sorry if spelt wrong) one and although it was good it didn't have enough memory for my apps and photos etc so I put the sim into my Xperia phone and everything has been fine until I ran out of my Internet allowance. Does the Google need somehow reconnecting to this phone? I can access news feeds that opo up on my phone but just cant access anything via google
