Hello
My Xperia X has all of a sudden started charging really slowly - it takes about 7-8 hours to charge from 5% to 100%! I've tried hard reset and Sony companion Software Repair, however the phone won't even be recognised by the PC! I've tried other original Sony cables and chargers. I'm using a Quick-Charge 2.0 featured UCH10. Checked the same set-up with my Xperia Z4 Tablet working tip-top no problem at around 2100 mA whereas my Xperia X would remain at 150-200 mA... Checked everything else including Safe mode, third party apps' usage, NOTHING. Also it takes about 5 seconds for the phone to even recognise the charger and actually start to charge after plugging in.
No data connection, only ridicuously slow charging and no idea at all what the problem migh be...
I am really concerned about this since my X is my favourite and the only mobile phone I use every day.
Every little help much appreciated,
Jack
Is this new for you?
When you connect you should see a popup.
Then click on transfer.
If you did and it doesn't work, then try another USB cable.
This is the very first time, it has never happened to me before on any phone. I always do see this on my Xperia Z4 Tablet, however there's no sign of data connection at all in order to 'push' this popup. Also in Developers Options section I have checked USB connection as MTP by default. On the other hand, I wonder what causes the phone to charge its battery this slow and recognise the charger for as long as 5 seconds. Would all of these symptoms lead to mechanical damage to either USB port or its flex? I am always careful with my phone keeping it in full protective case so any bends as such should be taken out of equation.
Thank you
Did you try a different USB cable?
The problem can also be the USB connector in your phone.
You might want to try the USB cable on another phone.
As mentioned before, I have checked my X with at least 3 more original Sony chargers and USB cables: my Xperia Z4 Tablet works flawlessly with all of them data connection (MTP) available and charging at around 2500 mA whereas my Xperia X remains at as low as 150 - 200 mA, no data connection at all, though. Do you suggest any mechanical damage given the above symptoms?
Thank you,
I'm having the same issue, did you find a solution?
The only solution I have come across so far is to replace the USB port (also its flex). Apparently, our Xs are voulnerable to some kind of mechanical damage precisely to the USB, therefore the common and widely known sympthoms such as ridicuously slow charging, no data connection, long recognition times by the charger to actually charge the phone. I only hope your guarantee period has not yet expired.
Thanks,
Ah , was hoping it was just a software problem. Do you know if it's covered under warranty?
Indeed there are other people mentioning a faulty USB connector in the phone.
The Support app bottom line phone with i inside will show how long your warranty reaches.
Contact local support.
Oh, and maybe you can see if the led is constantly on when USB is connected or that it flickers when carefully moving the connector.
