Xperia X Compact powers up to boot screen then turns off

After a normal restart today my Xperai X Compact will now only start as far as the Sony boot screen before turning itself off.    If I connect it to the charger the red light goes on, it will get to the boot screen and then turn off and then repeats this cycle until unplugged.    I have tried the Volume up/Power button reset and removed SIM & SD card.    The Xperia Companion software repair reported as completed succesfully but there is no change in the phones behaviour.   Please advise.

If your device doesn't want to cooperate, then you should force it.:smileylaugh:

The are different ways.

Let it start up in safe mode.

Start up normally and press the Vol down button when the white screen with Sony on it appears.

Hold the Vol down button a long time during the boot procedure.

It will start up in safe mode.

The second method to force something out of your device is from the manual.

Thanks, unfortunately it won't start in safe mode with the Vol down button, probably because the Sony boot screen only appears for less than 1 second before turning off.

What's the situation now?

Returned to supplier (giffgaff) by post.  Investigated on receipt, confimed as un-repairable so replacement (XZ1 Compact) sent within 24 hours.   Excellent service!
