Hi,
I bought a Xperia X Dual (F5122) three months ago and I noticed recently that the device has some issue to read MIFARE Classic card (in that case, a public transportation card).
When I tap the card on NFC detection area, it seems like the device is reading the card multiple times. It keeps vibrating and many "Read error" toasts are displayed on screen. Doing this with the public transportation app opened to read the amount of credits on the card, the app crashes few seconds later without displaying the response.
I believe that this device has a NFC chip by NXP (or, at least, by one compatible with MIFARE Classic technology), because I ran some tests on it and it reads the card data, even with the "Read error" toasts being displayed (I did it with MIFARE Classic tag too and it also worked). I tried some apps which gives you compatibility information and they returned that the smartphone is compatible with MIFARE Classic technology.
So, I think the only problem is the multiple time reading, but I want to make sure if it is really a defect before contacting Sony for the product warrant.
P.S.: My smartphone has Android 7.1.1, but I also tested it with Android 7.0.
Thank you!
Hello Filipe,
I have the same issue. Did you send your Xperia X to Sony's product warrant?
Thanks
Hello, Erick!
Not yet, but I'm willing to.
I don't have much time until the end of warranty.
In my understanding, Xperia X should support this NFC card technology.
Does the NFC work at all? because it seems to be an issue with the app, and that will be up to the app developer to solve this bug.

Unfortunately, I don't know for sure if NFC is working at all.
What I can tell you is that it doesn't seem to be an app issue, because I tested it in another smartphone and it is working normally.
An app can work fine with a different phone but not with your model, if you have the same Android device with the same android version and build number and one phone works but not the other then you could say that it is a phone issue, but if not then it's an app issue.
You can try to pair 2 phones using NFC to test your phone.

I understand.
Maybe it's a problem between Xperia X and the app.
The file transfer between my Xperia X and another smartphone using NFC works fine.
I believe that all that remains is to find an Xperia X that works with this app (if there is one).
Probably, I will have to send my to Sony.
Just an opinion.
If you send your device to get inspected, most likely, they will tell you that there's nothing wrong with it, because well, it works fine, the problem is the app, and that will be up to the app devs to address this.
