Headphones not recognised

I have recently acquired a Sony x compact, after falling in love with the phone and its features it no longer recognises my headphones. 

I have had oreo update since I got the phone (march 8).

My headphones are the SONY XB50

It seems like this is a common problem... But why?

I'm pretty annoyed with this as they worked perfectly before

Anyone have any suggestions?
