My wife brought me my sony WF-100XM4 in December 2022. A couple of months ago I started to notice the case was getting hotter, and the right bud started to run out of battery, before the left was even down to 50%.
Now I've noticed it getting very hot, one time almost dangerous to touch. Today my right bud dropped from 100% to 0 in 15 minutes.
I've also notice the case not always charging the buds, many a time I've gone to put my headphones on and they aren't fully charged, even though the case still does have charge.
I'm out of warranty, though not happy that a premium product like this lasted only 2 years, I definitely expected better. I would have upgraded to the next model, this year or next, but I'm reluctant to now, after this.
I can't get through to Sony, just their stupid A.i, which again, has put me off buying another of their products.
Always been a Sony fan, and I know stuff happens, but I expect them to at least listen when something we've paid a lot of money for has an obvious problem.
I'm in the UK, and couldn't find any human to deal with, just an endless circle of talking to a pointless A.i system.
Ranting, I know. Anyone else had this problem, the case and headphones were very hot to touch.
Hopefully it won't blow up in my ear.
@dslayer1066 Make sure that you reached them through the correct link it also can give you the chat option, cause if it's getting so hot while usage you should definitely report that to Sony. You can use this one I found: https://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/contact/
It's since the last update the issue happened for me too. The update was pushed the 19/10/2024 and since then the right earbud don't charge all the way and drains in super speed. I've turned off the handsfree functions on them, I've reset the earbuds (just factory settings reapplying the same broken firmware) I've mine nearly three years and so unhappy with them. I'm reluctant to upgrade to the WF-1000XM5 because I don't want to be upgrading my earbuds every three years. It's bad enough I've to upgrade my Xperia every three years I'm not doing it with earbuds.
I have the WF-XB700 earbuds got them under 5 years and they still hold their charge, still sound as good as out the box and the volume on it way higher than the XM4.
We need a way to rollback the update OR wait for Sony to push an update to fix the last one. I think the software is out of sync with the hardware and not accurately reading the battery an update would solve this issue for us.
