Replacement Keyboard for VGN-SZ2XP/C

Hi Forum

My two year old loves his Dads VAIO so much he decided to play with it by himself. The result is missing keys (and the little white bracket things) from the keyboard. I guess the easiest way to repair the laptop is to replace the complete keyboard (I did this on a previous DELL laptop so I know it's not too difficult). Can anyone advise the SONY part number for a new keyboard, where to buy it and some instructions on how to replace it?

Cheers

Hi malinkipaul and welcome.

Until recently Support would provide up to five keys free of charge. As this service is no longer available they will apparently ship a full keyboard for approx. €50/60. Click the Support tab at the top of this page and select ‘Get in touch’. Unfortunately as your machine is out of warranty you will probably need to use the premium telephone number :slight_frown:

Below is a link that will help you with the removal /replacement of the keyboard.

Rich

Thanks for the response. I found an eBay seller who will supply the keys and sundries I need for less than a tenner for the lot - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110436082980&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123. Thanks again for the info.

That's good news Paul and a lot cheaper than a full keyboard
