Hi
To have WIFI, you would have to live in a wireless hotspot to get the internet when you're out and about. This is advantageous if you're in a big city, but if you're in the sticks it's not going to be much use. I would suggest getting an Orange GPRS notebook card, this will allow you to connect to the internet from anywhere, but beware, the prices are VERY high.
Advantages to wireless : can connect to other PCs, pick up mail and surf in hotspots, file and printer sharing.
Disadvantages : Can't get online everywhere
Advantages to GPRS : Can go online anywhere - @ 56k speeds.
Disadvantages : EXPENSIVE and not always possible to use your current ISP
ok you say expensive, how expensive is this? live in the sticks haha i cant even get broadband where i live. it says it all really.
Expensive means it costs > £1 / MB
I remember seeing Orange advertising £10 for 5MB transfer.
ouch thats a lot, isnt there a plan on 02 though where u get it free? i remember when i was on 02 i got gprs for free, dunno how but they just didnt charge me, same with the tescos network my friend is on he can get his wap for free.
I get WAP for free from O2 as well, I don't think it counts for GPRS because when I connected it to my VAIO they started charging me.
