Wireless Lan Express 802.11g speed?

I cannot connect to my 802.11g wireless Lan network at speeds other than 11Mb with the LAN-Express AS IEEE 802.11g miniPCI Adapter on my K195HP - I have downloaded the latest driver but still cannot configure the network to connect at 54Mb - I have tried all combinations of options under the properties advanced menu - any suggestions please?

Hello,

I have the same problem with my GRT 995MP. Only connections at 802.11b (11MBit) are possible.

The WLAN-Card in the Notebook is a LAN Express AS IEEE 802.11g MiniPCI Adapter, the WLAN-Card in the Desktop is a Belkin Wireless 54MBit Desktop Adapter (PCI-Card). Both of the Cards support 802.11g - with another Notebook connections with 54 MBit are possible. Only the Vaio 995MP doesn't connect with the 802.11g WLAN - even if it is put directly in front of the desktop PC.

What's wrong with the card/driver of the vaio?

Regards

I have asked sony e-support for some advice - there initial response was to 'select 802.11g in the properties menu' of the Lan card - but as it doesn't give me that option I am still in the dark as to the solution. I wil wait to see if they can come up with something else!

Reply from e-support indicates that 802.11g is not supported in 'ad-hock' mode hence can only connect at 11Mb max - I think it depends on the card manufacturer but the Lan Express seems fixed - I will try setting up an access point and see if that works!
