Sony seem to want to keep this a secret. It mentioned in the hardware manual as an optional cable but no designation is given. The web site doesn't mention it as an option or sell any such accessory for the FR. The only one I can find seems to be for a camcorder. Will this suit or blow up the AV output circuits?

To be honest I think any AV cable will be suitable.
It will have a 3.5mm jack on one end (much like the ones you get on personal headphones), and the other end will have 3 phono type plugs (yellow, red & white).
Cost for a cheapish one is ~£5
Yes I would hope that too but in the past such hopes have been dashed often with the emmision of a small amount of smoke. I have one from a digital camera but since it is mono it will at best short the two audio outputs.
I guess what I need to know is:- Is there a standard for these cables? Does Sony publish the spec of the AV cable?
Thanks anyway.
You need to buy the correct cable!, Maplin.co.uk sell them for £5,
code WN78K not to be confused with the panasonic cable that looks identical. Incidentaly the same cable can be used on the sony PSone monitor as an A/V in cable as well as the sony camcorders. The socket should be yellow in colour the cable has a 4 pole jack plug at one end and stereo audio and a video phono connector at the other. Best of luck
Thanks MERCMAN. That seems to be the ticket.
