VGN-S1XP Keyboard

Just bought one of these and have noticed that the keyboad bounces up and down as you type (when you press a key, even lightly, the surrounding area of the keyboard goes down with it, springing back up when you release the key). It's as if the keyboard is suspended in the machine by its perimeter. Is this right, or is there something wrong? I don't want a problem 6 months down the line.

Firstly congradulations on buying one of the best laptops on the market at the moment. We sell this laptop at my work and I would love one. Also it has been one of the highest scoreing laptops on the 3D Mark 01 (benchmark software) we have seen so far, which was a big supprise considering its size.

There is no online manual for this laptop yet but if it is any thing like the Z1XSP below is a possibul explination.

This laptops keyboard is removabule so that you can get to the memory underneath, this could be the reason that the keyboard feels spring loaded.

This will load acrobat reader.

In bookmarks go to Precations and expand the + symbol to the left of it. Then click on the Adding and removing memory bookmark to see a gide to removing the Keyboard.

I shall have a look at our display model at work tomorrow and see if the keyboard is like that on it.

Yep buy the look of it the keyboard comes off to access the RAM to upgrade it. This sould not be a problem.

The keyboard bounce is due to a cavity underneath it where the RAM is.

As long as you dont bash at the keyboard you should get many good years out of it.

Thanks for the info. If the one you have also has a bouncing keyboard, then I guess there's nothing wrong with mine.

Apart from worrying me over its keyboard, I would agree that this machine is almost too good to be true; the battery life,for example, seems to be about double that with my last notebook.

Yep the one at work has the some bounce in the keyboard so i dont think it will be a problem.
