Has anyone used the Svideo or video port on the Sony VGC LA1
and been able to get a full screen picture using the Media Software or any other software ?
Contacted Sony support but they don`t seem to be able to provide an answer
Hi Jazz0_4,
You have to configure MCE using the Set Top Box (even if you don't have one) to recognise the analogue inputs.
Have a look at THIS GUIDE

Thanks for your help on this much appreciated
On going through the notes I get as far as 18 "IR Hardware not detected" there is no " IR device" or "IR Blaster" to check except the one that operates the PC Media Centre
I can see the video as in previous steps
I have not got to setting up the remote but that seems a further stage on
Best Regards

Hi,
First sony pc and first post 😆
Just got a LA1 and had freeview running for a few days with my tv arial (analogue) plugged into the pc (using cable supplied with pc). I then tried to set-up TV with sky+, however now I can only get standard tv channels (no sky or freeview) as It says IR hardware not detected.
Tried the above, but got to the same point as jazzo and would appreciate any help.
Thx, Mark
Hi Lost Jock
What connection are you using?
I would have thought the the RF would work.
Hi Vas,
Not sure mate bit of a newbie to connecting pc's to tv's.
I connected the cable supplied to pc's VHS / UHV port and the other end to the tv arial (used for the tv). Have messed about all different possible configs to no avail.
Thanks for your help.
Mark
hi jazo
i am about to purchase a svideo scart cable. but reading this forum, it looks like people are having problem, but i dont see what the problem is, at the moment i have an anolouge connection for standard tv, but would like to connect it to my cable box. would i able to set up the box easily
Hi there I got exakt the same problems.
I'm from Germany... there is no
"Infrared (IR) receiver" to connect "to an available USB port".
I don't knwo what is meant by: "Connect the remote sensor to the IR receiver and place it in a location that enables direct communication with the remote control."
I got only the regular Remote control with my Vaio VGNAR21s.
But I desperately want to record some old analog video via the s-Video port, its one of the main features i wanted to have buying that beautiful machine...
Has anyone a picture of the gear mentioned above:
_Infrared (IR) receiver on an USB port
_remote sensor to the IR receiver
I was able to see the video in the small preview window, but then got the statement "Infrarothardware wurde nicht erkannt".
It would be very useful if anyone can translate that knowledge base article to german.
Is it possible that the gear mentioned above comes obly with US VAIO notebooks?
Liebe Grüße
