Service Pack 2 for windows XP

i have trouble with my vaio, i have an K115Z, and after i installed Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, i canoot clock my processor down, it is running opn his full 3.06 ghz all the time, and that is completly not necassary when watchin a DVD, or such a thing, and my accu is working about an hour on 3.06 ghz, but on degrade, i can work much longer (400 MHZ), however, this function does not work after i installed XP2, is there a patch, or is there anything i can do to make it work again?

Also found the Intel CPU ID tool useful - tells you more than you would ever want to know about your CPU. To my surprise my CPU is running at its maximum too.

System is perfectly stable, and MobileMeter is reporting a system temperature of 56 degrees, but when I switched the VAIO Power Management utility into Performance mode (for AC Power), the system's speed fell from 2.80GHz to 2.43GHz.

Odd behaviour!

Now its cured itself?! It would be better if Intel could release a SpeedStep Control Panel.:smileywink:

o, and also, maybe he is giving wrong info, but if my laptop runs on 400MHZ, or 3.06GHZ, i can see easy, couse my batery live is so much shorter, he produces far more heat, and his performance with 400 mhz, it sucks, and 3.06 ghz, it rocks, i dont have shitty performance when i put it on degrade, so i know it aint working(i use to test it with battlefield1942, when i have 63 bots, all works fine on 3.06, but on 1.6(batery life) its not working fine

Ok now I'm wondering something......I have a K115s, exactly the same laptop but 2.8Ghz instead of 3.06. I'm positive when I bought the thing that the processor had HT (It's a P4 desktop Pentium with a Northwood core if that means anything).
I can't find any way of changing the core speed of the processor, nor have I ever seen it running on anything other than maximum. htn02, how is it done? Where does it say? I just did a quick Sandra report on the processor and it says that HT isn't enabled? What's going on?

Edit: Ignore this post, I just checked and it seems only the top model had HT. Mine was just standard. Teach me to double check things won't it.
