recovery message pain

I have just had to use the recovery cd to reinstall windows to my c drive, I do not however wish to install all the other proggs that come along with the installation, I now have a message at start up saying that the recovery is not complete, how do I get rid of this anoying message with out installing all the unwanted proggs on the cd?:smileycry:

You need to use task manager to find out which program is giving the alert - once you know the name then you can remove it from the run/load sections of the registry or startup folder. Msconfig may also allow you to disable the program.

Alternatively you could just complete the recovery and uninstall the programs you don't want.

Donkeyparty,

Press ALT+CTRL+DEL
Go to PROCESSES
Click on the CPU tab and wait around 2mins
Which one is using a lot of CPU time? Ignore System Idle Process and taskmangr.

Here is what you have to do.

1. Click START.
2. Click RUN
3. Type in the following, then press ENTER:

MSCONFIG

4. Press enter or click OK.
5. Now click on the STARTUP tab.
6. Find the name of the program, lets say its called ALERT.EXE for example (you will probably find its called something different). Search for the name in the list, and click its name until the green/blue checkmark disappears from inside it.
7. Click OK and follow the on-screen instructions.

Good Luck.
