Printer adapter

Hi everbody,
I need help getting my printer running from my PCG-Z1XEP notebook.
As there is no parallel port, I bought a USB adapter but the printer (HP desktop series 6122) startet printing empty pages with funny symbols on it :-((

I've already tried to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver but obviously that's not the problem. I wonder whether it could be the wrong adapter (which is USB to parallel port)?
Any hints for that problem? Configuration advice? Or maybe the wrong adapter?

It sounds like the right connector.
Does this printer not have a USB out socket? A lot of printers have both to ensure compatibility.

Bingo! I went to the store and exchanged the adapter to an USB cable (which was 30 Euro cheaper, BTW...). The rest was plug'n'play ...
