Hi guys can you help please. I have a vaio PCG K415B and when I log on it's pot luck whether I get any volume controls. The message says 'There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices go to control panel etc.' I am a total novice but have done the troubleshoots and tried system restore but it's just the same. I get volume about 1 in 5 times if I keep re booting. Any help would be appreciated.

Count yourself lucky! I have this problem as well as it saying "no audio device" when I try to play music in Media Player.
I've checked control panel and there are no conflicts - the Realtek Audio Device says it is running properly
A friend of mine has the same model VGN-C1S and has intermittent sound problems similar to yours and mine. We're both disappointed with this model that is very expensive but we hoped would be a quality product.
Pull your finger out Sony and fix this problem before I trade in for another make.
Hi guys,
I am a real novice but I had the same problem with my audio device. I wanted to upgrade to Vista Ultimate but this didn't work; however, after the unsuccessful procedure was done, my Vaio didnt find any sound device.... I reinstalled the whole system with the recovery CD and now everything is working again... including of all re-installing
Having tried loads of things I updated Windows Media Player 10 and all seems to work now. What seems strange is that Sonic Stage didn't work before either and now does!
Guess it was all to do with Microsoft after all
Happy to keep my Vaio now!
