installing a new os

hi
i want to install a new version of windows xp it isnt a upgrade and i havent ever installed an os before

i wasnt sure what to do uninstall my old one then install the new one????

or just install it ???

if i unistall the old one and then install the new one do i have to go to the bios or something to do it as my system wont have an os so what will happen does it run on a back up os like a graphics card would ????

I would do a clean install. Reformat, install OS and then rebuild system to your requirements.

yo kee-lo
when you say a clean install then reformat what do you mean exactly i havent installed one before and it seems a little strange installing something without the os

so im guessing that i unistalled everything on my pc,,, then reformat is there a place in the bios to do that ?????
i should only need to reformat my system drive yeah

installing the os will my machine ask me for one as one isnt installed ?????
or do i need to load up the bios or something

can you tell me a little more so i understand it a little better before i end up destroying my vaio
