Hi really need some help...
From windowns XP i ran the recovery utility and effectivly reset to manufacturer settings.
Next i (stupidly) installed a dodgy version of Vista Ultimate and now my computer thinks its a Dell for some.
I want to revert back to XP but am unable to use the Vaio recovery utilitly as it says
"This program runs on Sony VAIO computers only."
"This computer is not recognised as a Sony VAIO computer"
I do not have a copy of XP on CD as i believe all the default settings are on the partician.
The machine is Sony VGN-FE31H.
Any ideas as to how i can get rid of vista and set it back to manufacturer settings with XP?
Hi huwd20
Start your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press F10 repeatedly, this normally would start the recovery process..
If this does not work reset your BIOS to the default values and try again.
# Start or restart your VAIO.
# When you see the Sony logo, press F2 repeatedly to enter the BIOS.
# Once in the BIOS, insert the first recovery CD in the CD-ROM drive.
# Press F9 to restore the default values.
# When asked to confirm, press ENTER.
# Press F10 to save the configuration and exit the BIOS.
# When asked to confirm, press ENTER again..
Nice one Thalamus! gonna give it a bash :~)
Good luck..
