Fitting Memory to pcv-v1g

Has anyone managed to gain access to the internals of this vaio model to fit additional memory, Sony policy is to return to a service centre for a charge of £213 for 512Mb memory

Trevor,

It depends on how much you value your Warranty!! Fitting memory yourself is likely to invalidate it!

Hi,

I still own a PCV-V1D. I upgraded the memory to 1GB by myself. No problem at all. Just about two minutes. Open the back of the computer where you find the cord and just plug in the additional memory into the free slot.

Regards!

PS: By the way - I would loooove to upgrade to a newer computer. Not because I don't love my V1 but because I need something faster. The VA series computer is sooo ugly and I missed the V3S

By the cord do you mean the power lead that plugs in base where the rest of the unit hinges from ??
