FIRMWARE/UPDATES VAIO

Did a full recovery, everything is working so well, also the drivers. question: What is really the purpose of firmware/ updates?????? And what if you don't download them???:smileyconfused:

Still, I am much the same as you, constantly adding updates and firmware patches. I would have thought that Sony would be responsible for a disaster - and since mine is well and truely under the one year guarantee (expires 18/05/2005), then they would probably replace it as a dead BIOS is pretty terminal on any PC!

Well I do normally when BIOS is involved (anything else gets installed no questions asked) but now I am more cautious.

It was only for Sony insisting that I do the upgrade that I did...

Yeah same here, I'd only do it in serious circumstances.

Sony did seem keen for me to install SP2 as well - hence the upgrade... May wait a while first...

think gonna just wait for it, I think after almost a year no probs, so let's see and wait, esspecially for my new notebook, don't change a thing!
