I have a Divx file of 700meg which i cannot delete.
It shows up the usual, this file is being used by another programme/person, please close down etc. But ive closed down all things possible and no result.
Also, when i try to delete it, explorer.exe suddenly overloads and takes up 99% CPU usage (its doing it as we speak). When i end explorer.exe i cant open anything and have to restart.
thanks to any replies

You can do it through command prompt > Start > Run > Command
Then go to the directory and del
The problem is because of Windows Explorer. When you select an avi it automatically gets properties about the file and depending on your settings can allow you to view a preview. This is great but causes the file to be locked and hense your problem.
The easiest way around the problem is to rename the extension to something else then you can delete it fine. Alternatively you could delete the file from the command line.
