Hello everyone,
i just bought my vaio (3 hours ago) and here i am asking for support ...
ITs a FE41S, with vista preinstalled.
I cant install anything.
All the programs are giving me errors while installing, seems like they can not access the disk.
Openoffice says the path is too long, cccp codec pack and others (same install type) tells me "cannot create directory" or "cannot access" ...
Im new to vista.
Any clues?
Thanks in advance
Try right-clicking on the Install/Setup program and selecting Run As Administrator. That can make some programs install in Vista.
Try right-clicking on the Install/Setup program and selecting Run As Administrator. That can make some programs install in Vista.
Try right clicking on the Install/Setup file, select properties and then on the Compatability tab selecting the Windows XP SP2 option. Also tick the Run as Administrator check box just to be on the safe side.
If that doesn't work, I personally would try recovering the hard drive and starting again from scratch.
I figured out this problem.
I have a localized version of vista, and so i dont know why, the explorer shows me the directory "C:\program files" as "C:\programmi" (italian name).
When i set the pc to show hidden files, i actually see a hidden directory named "programmi", that is a link, but i can not use that (access denied).
So whenever i try to install programs in c:\programmi, i can not successfully complete the installation.
Any explainations of this ? Any clues on how to solve?
Thanks in advance
You've tried using the Run As Administrator option and installing to C:\Programmi?
That's all I can think of as I had so much trouble with Vista I went back to XP and didn't really look into how Vista works under the bonnet! Sorry I can't be any more help.
You could try turning off DEP while installing new programs.
Control panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Performance -> Settings -> Data Execution Prevention -> Turn Off DEP.
Have you tried CREATING a directory C:\Program Files ?
I would try a Google for C;\programmi - I thought this was something to do with a C++ Programming environment.
It also may be worth a phone call to your local Microsoft helpline.
