hi. i'm trying to do a clean install of windows xp and i want to install it from a USB hard disk..
problem is the usb drivers for dos i have searches for usb devices on boot, but i can't plug it in a tthe same time as the usb floppy drive. there's only one usb port.
so is there a problem that searches for usb devices after bootup?
hello buddy,
seems you have the same problems like me! The answer (until now, i did not know for sure!!!) is there is no chance to boot usb without floppy!!! Sorry!!!! REALY BAD!!! because i wanted to boot from usb stick! Did not work either! if some one here has some idea! I am open minded for any help i can get!
Have you tried a USB hub?
sorry didn´t understand your question! What advantage will i have with an usb hub?? You can only boot with bootfloppy! Not with usb stick or harddisk! isn´t it?
The question was for rudeboymcc. He is trying to access a USB hard drive after boot to DOS. If only one USB port is available a USB hub will allow you to plug in more than one device, therefore you can boot from the floppy with USB support which will recognise your USB hard drive in DOS.
