Expect the battery to last a good deal less than the quoted time (notice it says 'maximum battery life'). If you are playing a DVD or playing a game, expect the battery life to be half that, if not less. Second batterys are expensive, but if you're away from an electric socket for long periods can be well worth the money. The spare battery for the A-series is quoted as lasting 3.5 hours, however on the pdf attached details file it says avergage life is 2 hours 50 minutes (again expect less). Shop around for a good price, most places are cheaper than the official sony shop.
