ati mobility 9000

I have a PCG-GRV616S notebook and i'm having problems with the ati mobility 9000 graphics card After having installed the latest graphic card driver downloaded from Sony Vaio's website, I began to have problem with playing games. The laptop hangs, I have re-installed 'Windows' with the recovery cd supplied with the laptop, but this does not seem to solve the problem.
I have again re-installed the latest driver in you website, but the problem still persists.
the only way the notebook works is if i remove the drivers then it willl not hang at all but if i try to ..i would like to know if any there is someone out there that has the same problem and if so if you have found a solution........:smileycry:

I also have the same problems.
It's incredible that a trade like Sony
can't sove these problems!

If you know some thing
please let me know.

Have you got into contact with Sony?
If so what did they say?
They have told me that I have to send my laptop to their repair centre, which is going to be a big expense to me.
I hope this is not something that can be fixed with a driver after I incurred in all the expense.

How so? Are you out of warranty?

I had a similar problem with a Mobility 9200. The driver Sony provided that came with the machine gave me blue screen crashes constantly. Since they had no updates, I changed it to an Omega driver and the problem went away. Pretty amateurish.

Ouch. Well I'll tell you what, if you don't want to send the computer off for something simple, why don't you ask them what the problem is first? You never know someone here might have a cheaper solution for you. Have you tried just rolling back to the older driver?

Damn, and if I recall correctly, they charge like £80 to transport it -- what a JOKE

Maybe you should try the Omega drivers like Tyger did, of course at your own risk.
