202 / infrared problem

hi guys !

i just placed my 202 in a different room than my tv is and now neither my keyboard nor my remote is working properly.

the infrared receiver is in the same room as the tv , but i don`t have any controll.
if i open the door between the rooms , it works more or less , but the infrared receiver seems not to be working.

if i unplug the infrared cable it stays the same, so there must be something wrong with the receiver 😕

is there any way to activate the IR ports on the back ?

any ideas ?

Hi Nti.

Which model do you have?

PCV-RS202
PCV-RX202
PCV-RZ202
VGC-RC202
VGX-XL202

Just explain the set up with the Infrared Receiver and the Infrared Cable - is there a wire to the Vaio in another room?

sorry , if it wasn`t clear.

i`m useing a vgx-xl202.

the pc is in one room , the IR cable + receiver is pluged in (infrared transmitter out) and is leading to the other room , but my remote is not working. 😞

i checked if there is any option to enable the infrared connector but i couldn`t find anything , not even in the Bios.

i`m running Vista 32.

Ah - I see. I think the Remote Control will only work if you are in the same room as the Vaio.

I think the Remote Control IR Receiver for the Vaio is in the front panel of main unit of the XL202 (Front - top left). I presume the IR Reciever you are talking about is the "IR Blaster" which is only useful to change the channels on a set-top box with the Media Centre Remote.

Yes, I'm afraid so.

You do not need the IR Blaster connected unless you are connecting your Vaio to record from a Sky box by Coaxial Ariel cable or by S-Video.
