Hi everyone, for quite a while now I have been having issues with the YouTube app on my Sony KD-55X9005A.
The first issue is that I am no longer able to use the more function on the YouTube app. It looks like it’s been disabled for some reason. Therefore I am no longer able to change the video quality on any video. Some videos on YouTube seem to play in HD on the tv, whereas others don’t. However I can’t go in and change it. I also can’t like or dislike YouTube videos anymore.
The second issue that I’m having is that the YouTube app runs out of memory very quickly after playing a few videos through YouTube and I get an error message. I then have to reload the YouTube app again to continue viewing YouTube content.
This tv is the flagship model from 2013 and I do sincerely hope that Sony will keep supporting it, especially with apps like YouTube.
Please could these issues be looked into as a matter of urgency please by Sony technical and resolved asap. Thanks
Hi,
did you check if a newer version of the app is available by updating the internet content in the settings menu?

Hi Peter, thanks for your quick reply. Yes I did and it has made no difference unfortunately.
Hi everyone, have reported the issue to Sony UK who are investigating it. It seems to me that the YouTube app on the TV needs to be updated to the latest version to get everything working again. Just to add there have been no software updates for my TV for quite a while now. I do sincerely hope that Sony is not abandoning it's customers with older tv's in terms of app updates etc. I'm now wondering if the YouTube app has been updated on the 55X9005B models also. Sony need to support both it's old and new customers and keep everything like apps working for as long as possible with regular software updates. As previously mentioned my TV is the flagship model from 2013 and it should have enough hardware in terms of memory etc to keep YouTube and other apps working as they should be. Thanks
Hi everyone, just given Sony UK another call and have told that the issue has been escalated to the highest level and is being investigated. I'm now wondering how many other people are being affected by the issue also and requiring a software update of the YouTube app. If memory serves me correct, there was also the W905A and W805A models in 2013 which will probably have been running on similar software to my TV and also the X9005B model from 2014. As previously mentioned, please Sony don't abandon your loyal customers who have bought your older high end TV's.
