I had an "interesting" issue with my Xperia S, I wasn't multitasking nor running multiple heavy apps, I was using the regular browser and all of the sudden the phone stop working as if the screen froze, I press the power button, nothing, press and hold the power button for 10s, 20, 30s, 1min 2min nothing, removed the micro SIM card nothing, press power and volume key, connected to a charger and a computer nothing, I'd tried both PCC and SUS and nothing, all I can think was, THANK YOU SONY FOR SEALING THE BATTERY!!! I was thinking on removing the back cover and the under cover to have access to the battery but after an hour it started working, it drained a HUGE amount of battery, also when the phone was on that vegetative state I tried calling, sent sms, mms, gtalk, skype, etc and the calls weren't going through.
How to deal with an issue like this?

The answer was to press and hold both the power button and volume up at the same time.
interesting as you said... i'm assuming it happened only once..??
it happened twice, different days, different app, but the first time was only for couple of minutes.
it happened to me twice while browsing then it did not respond. but now its ok... it just happened and it annoys me....
no need to tell you
but did you try updating..??
It just happened to me while i was moving application to internal memory :@ why is that happening and what about the 1.5 dual core processor :@?
I have no explanation to why this happen, and it's really hard to say what might have caused it.
I have not encountered this myself, but please share info if you can find a specific scenario when this happens.
