Xperia Arc update with Sony PC Companion not working

Xperia Arc update with Sony PC Companion not working on windows XP

I receive notification that cmd.exe needs to be closed to update phone.

But it is a core critical windows system executable, which can not be closed.

Screenshot are attached.

So there is no update on Windows XP?

How do you update phone then?

SUS ( Sony Update Service)  ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe

Thanks, this helped. Although update littered my phone with loads of apps/icons I will never use and there is still no option how I can get rid of them - gaming and other facebook sh*** - this is annoying. I wish if there were at least option to hide and DISABLE (from accidental use) unwanted preinstalled litter apps if user is not allowed to remove them.

Also obviously sony needs to remove update option from PC Companion and replace it with the link to SUS

In ICS you have the option to disable them

You can't remove these pre installed apps until you root your phone

Hm, really nice to hear that. Although Sony doesn't seem offering such ICS update yet. Hopefully when it becomes avaialble LT15i will be compatible with it.

Ahm ahm, i think you have kept yourself away from blogs and forum

Ray Arc S and Neo V have already received the update

Arc S got the update a month Before.. i am on ICS.( i installed it one month ago)...

Arc will start receiving it by the end of this month ( most probably)
