I'll look into it
Hi,
I uninstalled the antivirus & also disabled the firewall settings.
I then downloaded the Update Service software from the link. Everything went well & then it asked me to chose my phone.
I selected Xperia arc LT15 model as LT15i ws not showing. The steps said to switch off the phone & wait till 30 secs before proceeding. I waited for 2-3 mins & connected the phone to the usb while holding the return(back) key. I was holding on to it for about 1hr 30mins & nothing was happening.
However the cursor was moving but no other application could be opened or used & the I had to hard boot the laptop. Did this coupls of times but everytime in vain.:smileysad:
Please help
OK so I am in Canada on the Rogers network and tried using PC Companion to update and said my phone software (3.0.1.A.0.145) was up to date. I tried the link posted above about the 'Update Service' but when I went to the link it said that 'this service is not available for xperia arc'?
Can anyone else confirm the update being live in Canada or am I doing something wrong?
When will this update be available in the Philippines? coz right now I still can't update it using PC companion. . .
Updates through branded phones tend to be slower than non branded phones for a variety of reasons.
Hence as Uliwooly has mentioned in this post, if you can't wait you can update the firmware manually using the steps described in ths post.
I also had a Rogers, Canada branded phone which I manually updated the firmware to a Global generic version.
Removing the Rogers bloatware makes the phone boot up faster and also in the future, you do not have to wait for Rogers to decide when they want the updated firmware released to their mobile subscribers.
Note that the manual updating(flashing) of the firmware using the flash tool and the downloaded .ftf firmware files are the non official way to do it.
It has been done by so many people successfully, so it theory should not be a problem if you are willing to give it a go.
Only SE Philippines will have a better idea.
The process of manually flashing the phone only takes a few minutes after you have downloaded the program to update the firmware manually(flash tool) and the actual latest firmware.
So the choice is yours if you want to continually keep spending time checking and connecting your phone to your PC and being dissapointed it is still not available or as Uliwooly mentioned in this post, just do it manually.
A lot of people are afraid to venture down this path of manually updating their phone firmware but once they know how easy it is, they wonder why they had done tried it earlier.
Thanks for the advise. . . I'll be trying to manually update it once my PC is fixed. . .
Is the official update available in Italy?
I tryed via OTA but no update is found.
what about warranty in case of manually firmware update?
that depends on country and operator/network some will say since you
flash other firmware the warranty is no longer valid, some
others will say since its a sony
ericsson firmware its fine,
etc remember you can also flashback to its original
firmware but if you have a lot
of doubts just wait for the official update..
