About a year ago I got a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800x model cell phone. At first everything was fine. I could play music, games and video easily. Now, however, the phone will turn off randomly whenver it's not plugged in, even when the battery meter is half full. However, it will (somtimes) stay on normally if it isn't used in any way.
I've tried to update the phone by Sony PC Companion, Sony Update Service, and even on the phone itself, but each time it either says that it has the latest version already (Update Service) or the program just fails for some other reason. Right now I'm using an external battery pack when I need to use the phone, which allows me to use the phone again properly but only for a short period of time
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Thanks for the advice, guys. However, it looks like all I had to do was replaced the battery, since after buying and placing a new one in I haven't had any problems all morning. It's like it's completly back to normal! I probably should have mentioned that the low battery sound would play in the same 60 second period three times, meaning that the battery was draining rapidly.
Anyway, thanks for the help!
it might be a hardware issue, take it back to verizon and get it fix, or sony repair center.
