What's the difference between the U's phone memory and the internal storage?

What's the difference and what are they for?

Would that be a problem? The 2011 Xperias all had 512 MB of RAM, and a lot of users don't complain with it. I mean, I would not consider myself as a heavy user. 512 MB should be enough, and I would not yet consider updating to ICS since that would eat a lot of RAM.

whaaaaaaaaaaaattttt..... Anguished_Face

512 mb is nothing...  user available is only around 300 mb , and around 130mb is used for normal android services so you are just left with 170mb...

its nothing.. 170 is nothing.. and with ics i dont know what will be the case.. i mea ics will demand more RAM...

i just rooted my phone ( i replaced \ deleted system files which a person cannot do without root )

after that i am in relief.. and only now i am able to enjoy my phone..

there are homescreen reloading , lag etc etc..

if you play a game , any game . light or heavy , it will consume RAM , and since RAM is used by your game all other services will get started..

and when you exit , all services will restart and you will suffer lag and what not....

see this for more info..

If that be the case, then what happened to the 2011 Xperias? I cannot afford high-end phones that's why I am looking for low to mid-range phones. All of the other phones within the price range of the Xperia U to Sola only has 512 MB of RAM, if not then enlighten me. Sony offers the best within this range. They're not meant for really heavy usage unlike those high-end phones with their 1 GB or more of RAM. For someone like me who doesn't have any experience with smartphones yet, the specs offered by these phones should be enough. Besides, why would Sony and other smartphone companies produce phones with such specifications if they would be useless?

Nevertheless, I shall take your opinion as a good advice and a precaution as well. I believe this thread has accomplished it's objective, but I am not saying that I would not want any discussions any more. If you would like to share more of what you know, and the other members too should they desire to participate, then please do so. This is very informative for us rooting for our first smartphones and to other users as well. Slightly_smiling_Face

i'm here to share my views Slightly_smiling_Face so this discussion can go on....

i own xperia arc , 2011 , and seriously at one point i coudn;t take it , was so fed up with it...

i told you about the internal memory and RAM.. these are the main things..

but sola has dual core and i dont know if 512mb ram will be enough or not...

whatever your decision maybe , do a in-depth research  i did..

i was confused between samsung s2 and arc , got the arc because of the design and hardware specs dint bother me..

if samsung s2 was 21 , then arc scored 18 in hardware ,

and now after 6 months my friend purchased samsung sl , 200$ cheaper than arc , and the configuration is better Neutral_Face it has more internal memory and lesser RAM usage....

ok tell mw what are your requirments..?? games..?? one should buy a phone acording to his needs and not the configuration Winking_Face

and i'm not saying that sola will be a bad choice , its just that at some point you will get angry with something or the other , this will happen with any phone you purchase ,

and if you really like sola.. just go with it Slightly_smiling_Face there are many things like rooting by which you can do anything and everything with the phone..

dont get confused.. and if you have any other phone in mind , tell me..

I probably won't do heavy gaming on my phone. I want smooth browsing, handy utilities, and some casual gaming. I don't text and call much, nor am I interested in video calling. NFC should also be useful, and fun.:smileyhappy:

At present, I am choosing between Sola, HTC One V, and Galaxy Ace 2. Those are within my budget. One V already has 4.0 on-board, but a lot of users are already complaining about its internal memory which should be 4 GB but they only have 1 GB because of some pre-installed apps. It also uses the same single-core 1 GHz processor as the Xperia 2011 phones, so Sola's should be better. I also don't like its design, especially the long curverd chin. Well, I never liked the design of all HTC phones anyway. Galaxy Ace 2 has 768 MB of RAM and a larger screen, but only has a 800 MHz dual-core processor. It is not mentioned what chip is being used, but I doubt it would match Sola's. Also, apps and games are limited to its 4 GB internal memory. That's the same problem users have with Galaxy Ace and SL, which my friend has. And it also has an ugly design.

So far, Sola is the best choice. It has a beautiful design and great specs. The only cons about this phone are the 1320 mAh battery and, probably, the 512 MB RAM.

Can you recommend any phone?

seriously cant suggest you anything Neutral_Face sorry ,

try this Slightly_smiling_Face

http://www.gsmarena.com/search.php3

when i searched in the above mentioned link , i got 2 options.. neo and arc

same here , i dont like htc and samsung's design Angry_Face

and i seee you already did a lot of research Slightly_smiling_Face

dont get confused , just go with sola.. because one v has single core and ace 2 has just 800mhz dual core as you mentioned..

and the looks.. it should look like we are holding a very good phone Winking_Face and sola is a good looking phone....

so just go with sola Slightly_smiling_Face i think it will be launched in june....

also , just search the phone in the lnk above and tell me the results..

That's actually where I go when I compare phones. I frequently visit that website for news and updates, as well as Phone Arena and some other blog sites. Before sola came out, I was rooting for a Neo V. But right now, sola is my best choice. I'd probably just wait until the price drops after its launch. Or probably another phone might come out, I think I just have to wait. Slightly_smiling_Face

hmm its the best site

for mobiles and gadgets i check gsmarena , other than mobiles.. i'm a car enthusiast so daily check 3 sites for updates on cars as well :smileywink:,

i wanted neo , but it never get launched here.. was fed up of waiting , 4 months Neutral_Face thats why i got the arc....

and its the right choice Slightly_smiling_Face to wait for some time.. mobile's prices slashes like anything...

That's another thing. Mobile phone technology develops so fast, you might need to buy yearly just to get updated. But I probably won't find it a problem. I've been using a feature phone for more than 2 years now, not to mention the other non-smartphones I've used before. I'd probably last 1.5 to 2 years before I buy a new one, after I eventually get a sola or whatever phone I would get.
