Viewing JPG files in windows xp explorer

Why can't I see thumbnails in explorer when I'm connected to a PC using the USB.

It sees the files, but puts up that graphic instead of the thumbnmail.

I'm using XP SP3 with current updates which is OK according to Belarc. The phones a new Xperia Ray, which I quite like.

It's driving me nuts.

Any offers, thanks.

You are connected in MTP mode, it is normal that thumbnails are not generated. To have full control over the phone's memory card, connect it in MSC mode. This will also allow you to view thumbnails.

To change mode, pull down notification menu, click the notification about MTP connection, and select switch to MSC mode.

The difference between those modes is that in MSC you can manage your card like it was a removable drive, the disadvantage is that the phone cannot access it anymore because it gives full control to the PC.

Try this on your PC when you have the window open:

In the top of the Window click "View" then 'Thumbnails"

I can see thumbnails on all of my other drives (internal and external HDD's), flash and SD memory and other remote devices. However I can't see thumbnails when viewing the Xperia Ray on Windows Explorer, no matter whether I adjust the file menu or not. All that appears is the thumbnail icon.

Thanks for the reply.

Many thanks dude.

Once explained it was so easy.

I used to have a K800i and it was sort of like that.

Now all I've got to moan about is the fact you can't use your PC to type and send texts, like you could with previous phones. I haven't found any third party software that will actually recognise the phone yet.

Any offers Mark, seeing as you're on a roll?

I googled it for you and apparently it is possible

According to the reviews, this app seems to work pretty well, is free and it is compatible with our X Ray.

Have a look at the results and see what works for you

By the way, last time I sent a text message from my computer was when I bought the serial cable for my Nokia 3310.
