TOUCH SCREEN KEYBOARD

Hi Guys,

Ive really been battling in respect of typing to send text messages. I find it very difficult on my X10. Letters are not what i have pressed and fullstops after every word. Its realy a mission:smileyangry:. My P1i & Vivaz Pro had the option for Stylist Keypad, Touch keypad & Alpha numeric Keypad and i never had difficulty typing text with it in any 3 kepad modes. I thought that smartphones are smart and easy to use but the more later the sony erricsson the harder its getting.

Any Idea on how to set up my keypad and i have installed go keypad but its still the same. Is there an application for  switching to Alpha numeric kepad when needed.

When you are in your Messaging app, long press on the text input box and select Input Method.... this will then give you your available keypads.  If you like the old style numeric keypad (T9) you could try the chinese keyboard if you have that available to you.

There are lots of keyboards on the market and its a matter of finding one that suits your typing style.

Is your phone running Android 2.1 or 2.3 as this may impact on what keyboards are available as standard within the phone, and also what area of the world you are in.

Im running Android 2.3. I have changed my input method to Chinese Keyboard and it works so much better now. Im actually typing without using the delete button :smileyhappy:. Thanx alot, you just made my day. Im from South Africa By the way and you?

Oh so glad that it helped you out.  Being a big texter my self I know what a pain having the wrong keyboard can be!

I am in the UK but different countries may have different keyboards available to them.

Nope im no big texter. I hardly use my messages and im not on any social sites so i mainy use it for emails or normal day to day text. however i do type sometimes while driving or when i recieve a text that needs a reply.

Oh before i forget, is there any way i can get my callender entries to show a preview or something instead of a small calender icon on the top of the screen which is really un-noticable. Cos i have Family members birthdays stored on callernder as a reminder to phone but that small icon realy does no justice.

My Vivaz Pro used to come up with a note on the main screen a week in advance until the appointment and would ring until i turned it of. but all that this callender does is beep vibrate and stop, and when you go to check why the phone vibrated once only, you dont see any calls or missed calls until i take out my phone, unlock it, check my messages, go back main screen, then only to notice the icon on the top for notifications. Maybe im setting my birthday entries wrong.

I am seeing a blue saturn avatar on your answers but your profile picture is a green cartoon thing?!

On the calendar front you have a few options to work with. I personally have an app called Jorte which I have as a Widget on one of my homescreens.  This is synced with my google calendar and also Facebook so I have all my contacts birthdays appearing on there.  I also have an app called Ebo birthday which also gives you a widget of forthcoming birthdays and a notificaiton on the actual day - again this is synced with both facebook and my google contacts.

how do i change my avatar?

If you open your profile page by clicking on your name at the top of this page and on the right hand of the screen there is an option for change photo and avatar.  Again on the right of the page go to the bottom and it should say Add another avatar, so click on that and it should let you upload whatever picture you want..... I think you can add 5 or 6 of your own.
