A lot of us complain of massive drain after upgrade from ICS to JB; but have you tried to find out why instead of passing the buck to Sony? Android upgraded their Google Search to Google Now, an app that sync everything about Google, keeping your phone wide awake most of the time. It happens to ALL OEMs and if you want to save battery life, go to settings, under account, choose Google and disable all sync activities. Also go to Location and disable the function unless you are using it. Try and see whether it saves battery power. Maybe that's also why your phone is heating up regularly.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I saw that if Google Now is activated, the battery drain is like crazy.
Try disabling Google Now and see how your battery will drain.
It's worse than ICS, but I like JB! 🙂
if you go settings, you will find Google. Now under Accounts. It's the blue G icon. Sync is itemized so you can choose what to disable. It's said that Google plus also drain power.
And the battery drain issue is resolved. By turnimg off most Google auto sync like location, Google plus, etc. Extended battery mode finally working like what's it meant for. No more heated phone as it will stop synching after waking up. Hope someone with this issue to try and compare experience.
But in my case it's not the Google Now, It's the exchange services... auto sync is off but most of the time it keep awake.. even i force stop the app it get started.. what to do with this problem??
Personally I don't use Exchange Services to access my other emails on the phone. Nevertheless, I read that this is a known Android issue that is still happening in the latest JB 4.2.2 OS. A lot of trials and error to try keep the autosync function to behave failed but some user successfully calm the app by changing the syncing to PUSH. Try that and see whether it helps.
