Question on SI numbers

I'm new to the GSM world and I just bought a new unlocked Xperia Mini and though I have a few new Verizon Android phones; Droid X, Bionic and the new Samsung S3, which are all full boar Android phones ( whatever that might mean ) I absolutely LOVE this phone. I wanted it because I'm tired of these huge phones, though I'm keeping them, this Mini is smaller then my Nokia n95 and that's what I was after as well as the size as I've said.

Though I'm past this Gingerbread, I obviously want to upgrade as everyone else.

Well, I could of bypassed all that and ask the question - being,. I'm looking at all the minimum req. for the various updates and I see my SI is 1248-7615 which seems to be perhaps an older version then most of yours. I am on the list for ICS, the box it came in says it's 4.0 up gradeable, but I noticed it labled as ST 154 vs the ST 15i that I've been seeing.

So between the lower SI # and it being an " 15a " vs " 15i ", is that any type of issue ? R/R or indifferent, it Is Modeled as CE o682 ; CB5 , AAAI , 12W2.

I'm throwing all that in, because like I said, I'm in total ignorance here.

Thanks much for your help !

and usually the "i" variant gets the updates first, there isn't an specific pattern or order on which SI numbers get it first

Thank you all for your help with the links to further instructions, which enabled me to complete the 4.0 update. Which I obviously know was your intentions.

I Was intimidated at first, despite all the various Beta and pre - release testing, my dealings with the GSM world has been limited.

I just managed to finish it before having to head up north. Now I can show it off to the crew.

As you know, I bought it unlocked, running it thru T-Mobile, and a Tech even walked me thru to put it the correct settings yesterday.

I still have an E, for Edge.  Shouldn't it be on the 3G Network ?

Thanks again !

which version do you have the "i" or "a"? if you have "a" it won't work with Tmobile's 3G
