Problem with xperia pro keyboard

Hello everyone! Winking_Face

I hope you could help me so I'll get straight to the problem:

I was just at a gym and my phone droped from chair to the ground (no more then 20cm = ~8 inches) and after that (I guess) my keyboard is not working properly. I mean... come on! 20cm?!! Slightly_frowning_Face
To be exact... everything else is working, there is even no spot of fall on it. Touchscreen and side buttons for volume and power are ok, as well as meny button, but 6 buttons on keyboard are mixed as well as back and home button.

When i press "a" it adds "space". I get same effect if i click space. That way "a" is mixed with "space", "d" with "enter", "." with " ' " and "back" with "home" button.
Any advice? Could it be that flat of keyboard has moved a little or something? Im not even sure it is from the fall, just guessed...
Dont know what to do... I still have 20 months more of guarantie so should i take it to official repare then or try to disasseble it myself to check it?

Tnx in advance

Sorry to hear this. 20 cm is not much but if you're unlucky it's enough.

The phone is not designed to endure any external damage at all.

The warranty only covers manufacturing faults (meaning e.g. drop damages or water intrusion is not covered). However, if you decide to disassemble the phone on your own you will for sure loose the warranty.

My recommendation is that you hand it in for repair at a service center. It is possible that this problem has nothing to do with that drop (even though I must say it sounds probable).

Call you local support office and ask them about all this. They know the local repair routines better than I do.

Hi again,

Thanks for your reply guys. I saw your messages yesterday but I wanted to see if I spotted something more, and I did.
First thing that I did after reading both of your messages was looking at my phone again, and after some detailed cleaning (because I have this fingerprint magnet - black one) I did spot a place of impact. So now I'm pretty sure this all started because of its fall... it not much, but it's noticeable on lower end of phone next to microphone holes (still cant believe it happened from such a small fall :smileycry:)

Second thing I noticed is that my buttons sometimes work normally, and it happens when I lock it and leave it be for some time, or when I open my keyboard gently... I don't know, but somehow, from my perspective, it all points to that flat cable.
So I decided to open it myself or I'll give it to my friend that works at some random mobile service.
Why will I do this instead of going to official service is because phone is bought over operator, and based on few experiences, from few of my friends, customer service is pretty bad here in Serbia. I'll wait at least a month because they will send phone to the capital and I cant wait that long. Also I don't wish to pay some big expenses if it is a minor error.
I managed to find some videos online of disassembly (I don't know may I post them here or not?) so I'll go with that. If I find it is some bigger problem, then I'll take it to SE service myself.
I must say that I totally agree with you Marcus so I'll tag you answer ass correct one.

PS. It took me some time to find disassembly videos, so if rules allow it tell me and I'll add links here in order to perhaps help someone else in need.

BTW. Links are in Russian...I don't know why it is so hard to find videos for PRO but for NEO it was piece of cake...

Thanks for updating the thread with this info.

Go ahead and post the links if you want to. Slightly_smiling_Face

I hope you manage to fix the phone without any problems. Please update with new info if there's something new to tell. Slightly_smiling_Face

Hello people.
Although I can't open my phone yet because I lack tools for that, I'm back to post link of disassembly...

I hope I'll manage to find that torx screwdriver for tomorrow and finally get to work.
I'll post to you soon...

Hello stefan87ns,

I have the same problem with my xperia pro (mixed keys: a - space, d - return, . - ' and back - home). After I searched a whole week to find your post. I dropped my phone a lot of times but never had such an issue afterwards. Restarted and cleaned the phone, but nothing changed. Did you managed to repair your phone?
