Hello
Had my Neo V for a couple of weeks and everything is fine, except for one issue.
When I take a pic or a video with the camera, the image / video will be there in the gallery for a little while, maybe 20 seconds, maybe a few minutes, before it gets replaced by the generic icon that indicates a missing image (see attached pic at the bottom).
I've tried opening the image using a different image viewer (ie ASTRO) but it says 'Could not load image'.
Using Astro to browse the SD card (in the DCIM-100ANDRO folder) I can see there are files there, but again they're just generic 'image' icons, not thumbnails of the actual images.
I can transfer the images to my computer but there too there is something wrong - again they just appear as icons, not thumbnails, and when I try to open them I get the message 'Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because either Photo Viewer doesn't support this file format, or you have the latest updates to Photo Viewer'. I've tried opening them on PhotoShop too, but that also doesn't recognise them.
They seem to be just regular JPGs, but obviously something is wrong.
I've searched the forums here for others having camera problems, and saw a similar problem here http://talk.sonyericsson.com/thread/31697?tstart=0
How to open the image taken by xperia neo v ?So I've tried 'go to settings -> applications -> manage applications -> all -> camera -> clear everything'. That didn't help.
I also tried clearing the data in the media storage app (Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Media storage > Clear data) but that didn't help.
I also found a similar problem here http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/127206#127206
So I tried going to SD - Android - Data - com.sonyericsson.gallary - cache .. and deleting the files that are inside.
That didn't help.
I also tried backing up everything then updating the phone with the latest software via PC Companion (did this maybe 4-5 days ago), but that didn't solve the problem either. Just gave me a load of hassle!!
I'm getting toward the end of my tether, I really like the phone but I have to have a working camera / gallery. I'm obviously very reluctant to send the phone back... any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Solved! Go to Solution.
Given the nature of the problem, this likely sits with corrupt data on the card and not the phone. I would advise backing up anything you want to keep from the card then formatting it:
Main Menu > Settings > Storage > Unmount SD Card > Format SD Card.
yeah i too was thinking the same
Sam you are a gent and a scholar, a legend in our times.
Formatting that card seems to have done the trick nicely, everything seems smooth and super groovy.
Many thanks, and big thanks also to all the rest of you that took the time to help me out.
No problem, glad that is up and working for you
