No touch response when phone is on a flat surface!

Just noticed that there is no touch response when my phone is kept on a flat surface. Is this a bug or any hardware problem? Anyone here facing this problem?

Hi. It's not a hardware or software problem. It's about options setting.
Go to setting/display and disable glove mode then use power key to lock the phone. Then put it on a surface and press the power key and slide the screen to unlock the phone. Now it set to use when is on a surface.(you should use slide in settings for unlock the phone)
I think it should solve your problem.

That has been seen on more devices, you should check if glove mode is enabled or disabled.

I also thought the touch screen was insensitive when the phone was on a flat surface (charging for example) but the horizontal surface isn’t the problem. The real problem is the screen reacts better when the phone is held in the hand, horizontal or any other position.

It’s a capacitive issue and not a feature of the phone but a likely design flaw. On some surfaces the touch is relatively sensitive, on others not but it always works when held. Try propping it at an angle with a bit of card = insensitive. Hold it at the same angle and it works every time. Nice one Sony!

Sorry, don’t agree. It's an annoyance which isn't fixed by some magic combination of button presses. The digitizer is responsive at any angle when the phone is held in the hand and less so when not held – such as when it’s on a flat surface.
