My phone is due for an update, I've updated it in the past and it has connected perfectly fine!
However, when I tried to update my phone this time it wouldn't connect via Media transfer mode (MTP) to PC companion. It connects via Mass storage mode (MCS) fine, but to update my phone I need it to connect via MTP. When I connect it it automatically connects via MCS, I changed the settings to not connect automatically via MCS but it made no difference, PC companion then tells me I need to connect via MTP, which I do and then for some reason my phone disconnects from my PC and PC Companion can't detect it, the strange thing is, my phone says it's connected to my PC via Media Transfer mode but my computer says No Phone Connected? I've tried all the suggested options PC companion gave me, to restart my phone, reinstall PC Companion, I've tried everything. I'm beggining to get really frustrated because I've got an annoying notification constantly on my phone telling me it needs to update to 4.0.2.A.0.62!
Any suggestions?

Hi Dandolo, have you tried both PC Companion and Update Service?
Only Sony Bridge. Are pc companion and update service available for Mac?
I believe the answer that you are looking for is here, http://blogs.sonymobile.com/products/2012/01/31/are-you-a-mac-user/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&ut...
This is the only one ....
I have already tried Sony Bridge and it will not connect to my phone by MTP during the update even when I have cleared the MTPapp data and removed the SD card and the battery is >50% full.
Suggest you try another Mac or look for friends with Windows-based PC/Laptop.
Alright thanks. Will update if successful.
No problem.
