I have the same problem. Looks like it was some unhappy date, because I also bought mine on 8/13 after returning the previous one with yellow tints.
This is a defective pixel, and it is especially vivid on a black screen when it is dark. Very annoying. I wrote to the technical support service a day ago, and they have not replied yet, somehow I doubt that they will reply at all... At the point of purchase they said that they can not exchange the phone because of one defective pixel, as Sony allows their phones to have up to 3 dead pixels.
At the authorised Sony Service Center I was offered a replacement of the screen, but a defective pixel is not the only problem - the lower panel with the inscription "XPERIA" is loose and makes creaky sound, and sometimes it takes 3-5 sec. for the screen to activate after I press the power button. Of course, they will repair all this at the service center, but I DO NOT WANT a repaired phone for $800. All this is very disappointing, and it seems that I am just left with it.
