Boot Loop? Seen other threads, but none have answered?!

Ok, so I've had my Sony Xperia S for about 2 months now, and for about the last month it has had an update icon, so I've gone to update it today and it got to the satge where it said it was updating. I then got a "ding" on my computer and it said something had been installed, but it had disappeared before I could see what it said. However, on the PCC it said it was still installing, so I thought it must just be something my PC was doing. Then I looked at my phone and realised the screen had gone completely black, but the LED was flashing geen. When I tried to turn it on there was no response, so I restarted it using the power button and the volume up button. This is where it then got stuck in the Boot Loop. So I came on here looking for help. Everything I have found, hasn't worked. My PCC doesn't recognise my phone AT ALL so I CANNOT get onto PCC to do any form of repair or backup or update. I did finally manage to turn the thing off by holding the power button and the up button for longer than 5 secs, and I got three vibrates and then the screen goes black. If I leave it it stays off. If I try to either plug it into the wall charger, or my laptop, I get a vibrate and a green LED light, but then the whole boot loop starts again. If I turn it off but then try to flash start it with the power and down button, I get a Blue LED light come on, and then the boot loop again. I have also tried taking out my SIM card (not that I thought that would help in any way :S) and as I thought, sod all happened. I have also tried power and down together while in the boot loop, just the power button, just the power button after I manage to turn it off and still nothing.

I am now really stuck for ideas, so anything would be really helpful!!! PLEASE?!?!?! :'(

Hey there

First shutdown your phone

Press and hold Power Button and Volume Up button at the same time

5 Seconds > Restart Phone

10 Seconds > Shutdown Phone

Now do not try to switch it on nor connect it to PC

Follow the steps

Backup everything as it will erase all data on phone (sms, contacts, apps)

Update/Repair your phone via PCC or SUS

PCC (PC COMPANION) – Repair your software with this .First do the setup without connecting your mobile to pc.(only connect when you are asked to).

Do it as follow >> PCC > SUPPORT ZONE> SOFTWARE UPDATE> REPAIR SOFTWARE (written with blue)

PC Companion http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/

SUS ( Sony Update Service)  ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe

                  or

I was willing to try out CM 9.1 ROM I unlocked the bootloader as per steps everything went well. When I reboot it shows FXP logo and then it is stuck at Xperia logo. Since its battery is not removable I have to wait until it all drains out and charge again and get it into working mode. I could go into recovery and flash CM 9.1 but even from there when I reboot it now stuck up at CM logo same as Stock Xperia logo.

I read the instrcutions of volume + and volumne - combination for few seconds but by the time my batter is drained out it doesn't work. If I wall charge it then it automatically boots when sufficiently charged not giving me option to try hardware key combinations.

I have emma, flashtool and SUS but I cannot get my phone into flashboot or flashmode as nothing happens with volume key combination. When I connect using USB cable it shows RED LED light and once charged up I can get it into recovery mode...

I gave phone to sony repair somehow they are able to get into flashmode... however they say they might not be able to repair it as using Emma it doesn't flash stock ROM.

I am not sure if sony is going to return me handset without repair, any help would really save my brand new Xperia S from going into vain, Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Is your device dead ?

Did you unlock the bootloader ?

Nope I can get into fastboot and flashmode. And I had unlock the bootloader earlier but while flashing boot.img I believe something broke bootloader that stopped me from booting into original ICS, I then flashed custom ROM using CWM but same result.

I then sent phone to Sony repair center in India. Sony folks tried it with emma tool n they couldn't flash in flash mode. They said it goes in flash mode but leaves n reboot.

I downloaded official stock ftf rom for my region but it aborts at kernel.sin flashing. i have tried all the combination of settings suggested like exclude TA, no wipe data n logs etc. Nothing works.

I extracted kernel.sin from stock rom n used it all o flash thru fastboot. it is now showing Sony logo but now no os is available to boot.

Few people said it could be damage boot loader or TA n flashing locked boot loader might fix it. my settings are not to allow app from unknown sources so it doesn't work either.

Any idea what needs to be tried out now?
