Backup not restoring apps and other phone settings

I factory reset my Xperia P today. Before doing so I prepared a backup of my phone by Sony PC Companion.

After Factory reset when I tried restoring the backup, It said all the apps cant be restored.

I did the backup, and only contacts nd sms are restored, but all other stuff didnt, it not even remember my gmail, facebook accounts. I had so many apps with my confidential and important data/passwords which I dont even remember.

Is there any other way to restore that .dbk file. I'm very desperate here.

I tried that changing to .zip nd extracting file but that wont bring back my data that only perticular apps can run.

My backups do not store facebook,gmail passwords or any other data like this.Just sms,contacts and whatelse i check before the process.Are you sure you checked everything before the process?

Yes I checked everything! werent all apps were supposed to appear back? Like my antivirus app, some apps storing important info like my scheduler etc... nd games( I dont care abt games but still)

No,the apps are not supposed to appear back.You have to download them with your google account and then restore the data for them.

Thanks mate!!! I installed the few apps which were lost and did the restore again. It worked, data came back.

That is bullshit! After downloading my apps again, I tried to restore the data for them via the option "other". And nothing happened! The same error occured, saying that it is not possible to restore app related data because they are not installed. But in fact they are! Additionally setting are also not restored. What the hell do I save backups of my phone, when there is no possibilty to bring back my settings?? All thats restored is my wlan passcode! Hello?! My wlan passcode??? Wallpapers, keyboard settings, signal settings etc. are not restored. It is the fifth time I have to setup my phone manually!! Whats wrong with Sony?! I am so fed up with the phones fucking firmware and the software you get to BACKUP your phone.  Its nothing more than a "do shit"- software!!!

I have a solution to this problem. Have a look at my thread below, you can backup everything using a USB OTG cable.

I read your thread attached and what I get is, that I need an otg cable to get the sony software working. Is that the point then? So I can't do a full backup with the cable provided by Sony?? That is bullshit too!! Thanks for your advice, but thats no real solution. Its a workaround again. With Apple and HTC you are able to restore your specific device with the means provided by the device/manufacturer. But Sony can't do it. RIDICULOUS!!

I know! Its even more ridiculous that I had raised this issue with Sony support, and all that they could reply was this cant be done, you need to use 3rd party app like Astro(which cant backup locked devices) or any comercial 3rd party app. It was only by intuition that I figured out that OTG cable cld be the answer. BTW, I dont think OTG cable costs much. And dont forget, all those game scores and other apps are far more important than spending some money on OTB cable.
