Accessing my email with my C905

I have posted this question, (with different wording) elsewhere on this Support Forum. Dr_Chris has helped me considerably with my question, and suggest I try this community for further assistance.

I have, as you may have already figured out, I have a Sony Ericsson C905, and I love it. To tell you the truth, I really don't know what it is, other than it is NOT a Smartphone, and that's just fine with me. When discussing the phone with family and friends they say that I can not access my email via the C905 because it is not a Smartphone. I say that I can, because there is the Wi-fi feature on the C905.

My question is, albeit somwhat vague, exactly how do I access my email.  I have an ISP, but don't have a clue as to how to access it! I also have email on gmail.com, so maybe I should try to do my email stuff from my C905 there. I don't know.

What I need is a  step-by-step set of directions on how to do that. I'm old and not very smart.

So - if anyone with a C905 is willing to help me into the 21st Century, I would be forever grateful. I do not plan on getting a Smartphone anytime within the next 10 years,

Thanks,

DonaldS

Try this: Main menu--Messaging--Email--Accounts--New Account--Here, you will be asked to enter your name/email address/password, and the email wizard will automatically download the settings from the internet to your phone (this can be done over WiFi or over the mobile network)--just follow the instructions on the phone and this will set up the email client for your account.

If your phone does not have an email set-up wizard, let me know and I will send you the settings for Gmail and how to set it up manually.

And by the way, you don't need a so-called "smartphone" to use email on your phone. You can access email on the C905 either over WiFi or over the mobile network--I have been doing so with the W995, also a "dumbphone".

The other way to access your email in the phone, is simply go to Gmail.com using your phone's internet browser, sign into your account as per usual and away you go.This can also be done over either WiFi or over the mobile network. The advantage of the first method is that you don't need to sign into your account and it's also safer.

Happy Holidays to you!

As if the seasonal holiday stress were not enough, (lol), I am getting nowhere with my C905 email access experience. I tried both of the methods you suggested, and . . . nothing. I'll get back to later this week with a report on how it transpired. I think it must be something I am doing wrong, but I'm not going to stress out over it. I will wait until all the family have gone home, and the dust settles on this Christmas 2011, and I will come back to this forum and seek your further advice. Thank you for the help you are providing.
