Hi @Maciu1, welcome to our forum!

I'm not quite sure that I understand your question, could you please elaborate a bit?

All versions of the Xperia M4 Aqua supports microSD card, up to 200 GB.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood your question!

I have an sd card option on my phone but it won't let me transfer anything to it.  Surely I should be able to transfer my photos to the sd card.

There should be a prompt window, that is supposed to pop up sometimes when you're trying to get permission to access sd card like, transferring files to it or from it. You must give write permission in order to let your sd card work on your Xperia M4 Aqua.

Thanks.

Hello everyone, sorry for the late reply.

@Maciu1, very sorry to hear about your device. Slightly_frowning_Face

If the device is not able to read any of the SD cards you have tried in the device, I would recommend that you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This way we can rule out that this is caused by the software in the device. Do note that all data stored on the internal storage of the device will be deleted so it is advised to create a backup using Xperia Companion before you start with the repair.

If the device is still not able to recognize any of your SD cards after the repair has been completed, your device will need to be examined at an authorized service centre and your Local support team will assist you further with this, so please get in touch with them.

@NellieH, sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

Could you please follow the steps below and see if then you are able to transfer any media to the SD card?

  1. Find and tap Settings > Storage > Transfer data to SD card.
  2. Mark the file types that you want to transfer to the memory card.
  3. Tap Transfer.

If there is no data that can be transferred to the SD card, can you try and open up the Album application and tap on a photo and then tap again > 3 dots > Information and get back to me with where the photo is stored? It may be that your photos are already stored on the SD card.

Let me know how it goes! Slightly_smiling_Face

Thanks for your reply.  When I click on Storage it doesn't show anything that can be transferred to SD card.  I clicked on one photo, which is in internal memory. I have however downloaded google photos app and all the photos on that went automatically to the SD Card - weird! So i guess now that they are on there I can delete them off my album.

Thanks for your advice.

Hi again @NellieH!

That sounds very strange as you should always be able to transfer media to the SD card in your device.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get it working with the Google Photo application and that you now can free up some space on the internal storage in your device! Slightly_smiling_Face

Google Photo is a really awesome application/service as it enables you to access your photos that are stored in the cloud from another computer/device as long as you have access to your Google account.

Have a great day! Slightly_smiling_Face
