Videos not working

I cannot watch videos. The notification says "Cannot play video. URL is invalid" I have tried to reboot in safe mode and it still does not work. What to do next? Thank you

Hi @Lavra628, sorry to hear about this.

The videos that you are trying to watch, are they stored on the internal storage or on a SD card? If they are stored on your SD card, can you try recording a new video and save it to the internal storage and see if you are able to watch that specific video?

If the setting for data storage is set to your SD card you will need to change this before starting to record a new video. To do that open up the camera application > tap the cogwheel > More > Data storage > Internal storage. Start recording a video and see if you are able to view it when you have stopped recording it.

Thanks for the swift reply and I'm happy to hear it's working when the videos are stored on the internal storage of your phone!

If you still have these videos on your SD card that you can't play, try going to Settings > Apps > 3 dots > show system > Media storage > Storage > Clear data > restart your phone.

This will force the phone to read in all media files again so you will have to wait 15-20 minutes after the has booted up again for all media to be read in again. When all media has been read in, try playing one of the videos that you have stored on your SD card!

If I manually store a new video on internal memory it plays fine.

But I still cannot watch the videos on the SD card. And when I try those steps you suggested, the only options that pop up (when I tap three dots) are "sort by size", "sort by date", and "reset app preferences". What am I doing wrong? And how do I store videos from SD to internal memory?

Oh I see, you are using another Android version then!

If you go back to Settings > Apps, you should see a text called "Downloaded" in the top, scroll to the right and find "All", here you can scroll down and find Media Storage > Clear data, then restart your phone and wait 15-20 minutes and see if you are able to play the videos that were already stored on your SD card or if you record a new one and save that to the SD card.

If you want to transfer the videos you have on your SD card to your internal storage you can use a file explorer application that you can download from the Google Play store or move them using a computer.
