Ragarding file transfer

Hi, I want to transfer files from my computer to my phone but it just hangs there. I see on my phone asking to install apps on my computer to manage my files on phone. I really hate to do this. Is there any way I can go back to simple plug-in-usb and transfer files in any computers??

Is this something new with Xperia? This is really unnecessary and inconvenient.

Any xperia staff who can help me with this? Thanks

Hi @Somafan, welcome to our community!

Do you want to transfer files to a computer running Windows or macOS? If you want to transfer the files to a computer with Windows installed all you need to do is connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable that was included together with the phone. When the phone has been connected to your computer you will see a pop up on your phone asking what you want to use the USB mode for, choose "File transfer (MTP)".

You can now access the internal storage and SD card from a file explorer on your computer and transfer files from your hard drive to your phone or the other way around.

The pop up that you see that is asking you if you want to install the Xperia Companion software in your phone can be closed down and you will also have an option to not show this again.

If you are using a computer with macOS installed, you will either need to install the Xperia Companion program to be able to transfer files between the phone and your computer since macOS does not have native MTP support.

Let me know how it went! Slightly_smiling_Face
