Have you tried the Diagnostics test for the microphone, it's an inbuilt test in the device which you can find in Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Microphone? If you haven't done this test, please start with that.

You can also try and restart your device in safe mode and see if you experience the same behaviour with the device when downloaded applications aren't loaded.
